Make hay while the sun shines

We are getting the rest of our winter's supply of hay today. The hay is nicely baled and at this moment is sitting out in the field. It would be nice if we didn't have to do it today, but it is suposed to rain in the next 24 hours. Mom and the kids are going with our neighbors to pick up at least 200 or so bales. I don't have to help with the hay, and that is a good thing cause I'm also allergic to it. :P Thankfully, we were able to find a farmer that was willing to sell some decent looking hay, and even better, it was only $3.00 a bale, which is a terribly good price for around here.

Hey! Don't forget me!

I helped with hay too. BTW, those were the heaviest bales any of us had ever encountered. We surmise that the tension on the baler was quirky because the hay was backed so tightly that the squares were more like bricks than bales. We estimated that each bale weighed 80 to 100 lbs instead of 50 to 70 like they are supposed to.
