my girl
Our last goat gave birth this afternoon. She had three beautiful does, but the first one is terribly small and weak. She can barely lift her head up. Daddy is afraid that she won't make it, and said that often there are other things wrong with runts besides being malnourished. Her mouth is so tiny that she can barely fit the bottle in it, and she won't suck, but simply lets the milk dribble down her throat. I only got about two tablespoons into her. I gave her a half cc of Selenium booster, but it probably won't make a difference. She is so small I can hold her with one hand; her little heart pulses on my fingers as it works to keep her alive. Our heater for the baby goats in the barn stopped working, so I have her in a box in the goat kitchen. She is wrapped up with a warm water bottle. If only she would live. If we can get her through the next two days she should make it. Please. Oh, please.

Oh, I'm praying for her. I do so hope she makes it. Just keep her warm and keep tube feeding her. She could probably stand a little bit every 2 hours or so.
Dad has tube fed her twice. She actually can lift up her head, and she wiggled enough to get out of the blanket she was wrapped in this morning.
I got a little milk in her again today and she stood up once but fell down almost immediately. I hope she makes it.
oh she can maa too
