August 17

6:15 pm
We left the house at around 5:30, dispite Dad's wish to leave no later than 4:30. Though we were ready to leave at that earlier time, the lights on the camper weren't working. Dad had to rewire them before they would light up. We hit some construction close to Grand Rapids, but so far we are making pretty good headway.

This vacation is rather different from past vacations, as we are traveling in two different vehicals: Dad's little car and the big white van with the camper. Sarah is riding with Dad in the car, so I get to be co-pilot and read the map for mom.

The countryside has changed quite dramatically as we have driven. The ground had become more and more sandy, the trees are now largely comprised of sassafrass, silver maple, aspen and oak. There are also large amounts of weeping willow.

Normal amounts of bickering can be heard coming from the seat behind me, occasionally there is a distressed call of "MOM!!!". :P

6:25
We are now in Grand Rapids. The name of the roads here are *very* creative. "Ten Mile Rd" "Seventeen Mile Rd" "Six Mile Rd" and so forth

9:31
We are now at our campground along the Pere Marquete river, and everything is set up. We can't find my sleeping bag anywhere. I hope we find it tommorrow. :P
