The ride to the little house proved uneventful. This was the first time that Sarah and I had gone there by ourselves. Once there, we began our boring job of plastering the walls and ceiling. During the first two hours we listened to music while we worked, and during that time, our conversation was somewhat minimal; it was nice not to have to manufacture our own noise. After we had listened to both of the Michael Card CDs that we had brought, we decided to listen to a 4 CD set of “hymns” that Grandma and Grandpa had given our parents for Christmas. We were sadly disappointed with these, for with most of the “hymns” it was just the music, and the ones they did sing were either to the wrong tune or the words had been changed. Because of this we became overwhelmedly bored. When bored, the strangest conversations arise.
Like…….
Me: You know, Sedrick is a lot nicer looking than Peter [from the Chronicles of Narnia]
S: Ya.
Me: But I think Edmund isn’t bad looking, in fact I think he is nicer looking than Caspian.
S: But Caspian is not bad at all, in fact if he were Lutheran……
Me: But if Miraz were Lutheran?
S: Well, he is too old
That was a really weird discussion. We don’t normally have that kind of conversation, but, boredom can cause that sort of thing.
We started the plastering at around 1:00 and we were done with what could be done today at 4:30. We loaded up the stuff that we had to take home and got into the van. We had parked our car on a slope, and so we had intelligently put the parking brake on, but when Sarah went to release the parking brake, it appeared to be stuck in place. We tried pushing it a pulling it, but all in vain; we were stuck. Considering we had nothing to loose, I pulled out our handy owner’s manual. Sarah gave me a look and exclaimed, “That’s not going to help.” Paging through it we came to page 206 where on was printed the head title of “Parking Break”. It gave instructions on how to release the brake, and so, Sarah carefully gave it a try. The parking break released!!! The owner’s manual knew what it was talking about!!!
