Asleep in Christ

The evening that we flew into Vilnius, our host took us to this cemetary. Buried there, were the last 14 partisins killed for Lithuanian re-independance. They died while protecting the TV tower in Vilnius in January of 1991.

Opposites

As a side note:

One month 'till Lithuania!!!! :D Mom has been trying to learn Lithuanian with some language CDs. She is very happy to have finished all the lessons and to be able to say things to us in Lithuanian. In contrast, the only things I know how to say in Lithuanian is "Excuse me" and "No Sir", which is all that ones needs to know anyways. Right?

Country Roads

Today was so lovely that I braved taking my camera with me when I went biking. Unfortunately, the photos don't do justice to the beauty of the blue sky and the sunshine. You can't see how the sunlight was dancing through the leaves over the road or hear the redwing black birds sing beside the pond or smell the newly plowed dirt. : ( Oh well.

The Rainy Day

by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The day is dark and cold and dreary;
It rains and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But a every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold and dark and dreary;
It rains and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
While hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart! And cease repining;
Be hind the clouds the sun is still shining;
Your fate is the common Fate of all,
Into every life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

Sunset

Since I can't download any of this winters photos from the camera, I'll just have to live with posting ones that were taken before the snow.
