Ok, I promise this is the last photo for tonight.

A post for the sake of posting

Here's your blog post my Dear Overly Fun H- Person. :)

My dress that I will wear when we go to Washington DC in January is basically finished; I only need to finish sewing the bodice lining onto the gown. It turned out better than I expected, especially since this was the first time I have worked with any fabric other than cotton. Anyways, that is about the only new thing around here.

Perhaps I'll have something more interesting to say after we go ice skating on the pond this afternoon......

Please?

Oh, please?
Please let the ice melt overnight so we can get down to church tomorrow. The roads are still pretty awful, and whatever snow melted today will now freeze all over the road and then we won't be able to get down to South Bend. Missing a whole two Divine Services would be awful. :(

I forgot my library book was due today. Oh yay. Hopefully it won't matter so much if Dad can drop it off on his way to work in the morning. I still need to check out Snow Goose, but I guess I'll just have to do that some other time. Perhaps I can do that when Mom and I go to get my books for the college classes.

Sarah will be leaving in only about a week. :( Then we won't see her till maybe after Easter. That will be a long time. :( Her cell phone (Verizon) doesn't work in Canada, so now I get to keep her cell phone so that I will be able to call Mom if I need help at college. Also I can take it when I go biking, since Mom and Dad finally agreed to let me bike by myself now that Sarah is gone.

There are lots of owls outside this week. Last night there was one really close to our house. It is fun to take a walk in the dark and then get scared by silly owls or coyotes. As long as someone is with me, it isn't that scary, but for some odd reason, even though they aren't dangerous, I still can't get myself to go in the woods on my own when it is dark. Perhaps if I had a strong tall body guard with a long sword I would venture out after dark. :P

Matt is pretty happy with the stack of WWII documentary videos that he got for Christmas. They are interesting, but so very sad and... and..... just awful. It isn't some made up stage dramatization, this is actual footage; real men being killed; real ships sinking; real planes falling into the ocean; real sweethearts grieving. I almost can't watch it without getting sick. Oh Father, how could men do such horrible things to their fellow creatures?

Pie Day

Sarah and I worked in the kitchen all day. It is amazing how many dishes get generated when we are cooking. Sarah made apple turnovers, apple pie, and dinner rolls. I made pecan pie, pumpkin pie, custard pie (my first atempt), and cherry pie. I, um, burnt Sarah's dinner rolls. She really aught not have trusted me to keep track of the time they were suposed to bake. : ( Poor Sarah.

Snow Fort Photo

Now that I got the photos finally downloaded, I can show you how high we got our snow fort last week. Sadly, it completely melted the day after we fixed it.

Please, Come Back Time

Time has utterly gotten away. I was hoping that life would slow down during Advent, especially since school has ended, but instead life has gotten even more chaotic. I can't believe it is almost Christmas. I would like to stop and catch my breath for a moment, but in only about twelve days Sarah will be leaving, unless Augustine College calls and says it won't work. I will be starting my college classes the day after Sarah would start at Augustine. I don't even know what books I need, and Mom and Dad might not even be there when I start and I might have to try to get a ride with one of Sarah's friends that is attending there. It is so scary not to know for sure what is going to be happening in the next two weeks. Dad and Mom have been so busy that they haven't put things on the calendar so I have absolutely no clue what is happening even tomorrow. Maybe after Sarah finally knows for sure what college she will attending this semester, life will once again establish a routine. Uncertainty always makes me panic, but I shall just have to deal with it, cause I will never have everything completely sure all the time.
Also, now that the winter solstice is over, it should start staying lighter later. I don't remember being so depressed by the early darkness in past winters, but I really can't wait until the sun sets at eight o'clock instead of at five.
Yes, I do know that my paragraphs are not well constructed, but oh well.

HaPPy :D

Spanish is all done!!! :D Yay. Only took me 15 or so hours........

Anyways....

We are going to Washington DC....
two days after the presidential inauguration!!!!

There are almost 4 MILLON people expected in Washington DC!!! Yay!

:D So awesome! :D

oh, and I have decided that I want to be a hermit when I grow up. Since it would be kind of lonely to be a hermit by myself, I'll form a hermit community.

I think maybe I aught to go to sleep....

:D :D :D :D :D

Last

Today was my last day of our original homeschool co-op. I think I learned as much as I possibly could; indeed, I have been greatly blessed by the wonderful teachers that have been there. As good as it is, there aren't any more classes left for me to take. I will be greatly looking forward to once again taking really hard (not hard as in lots of homework, but mentally challenging) classes.

The Rainy Day

by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The day is dark and cold and dreary;
It rains and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But a every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold and dark and dreary;
It rains and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
While hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart! And cease repining;
Be hind the clouds the sun is still shining;
Your fate is the common Fate of all,
Into every life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

Christmas Wish

On the way to church last night, Tinny and Oly rode with us from School. About half-way there, Tinny leaned over his car seat and said softly, “Are you think what I’m thinking?” He smiled a knowing look.

Some what perplexed, I asked, “What are you thinking?”

He leaned even closer and whispered, completely assured, “I think I’m going to get a million dollars for Christmas!!!”

Done!!

Yay!! It is done!! I Finished my career paper!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D:
Attempt #4 decided that it would finally work. I guess that is better than writing five papers......
Well anyways, it is done. I'm not exactly proud of it, but at least I'm not ashamed of it like I was of the other three papers. It isn't really the career I would choose, but if you had asked me ten years ago I would have said it was. It was the only career that came close to working, and that I could write about with basically no heart, and that made it alot easier. In some places it sounds a little too dramatic.... It also has some very random stuff that I don't think I'll ever do...... maybe, but it is very unlikely.

It will be so awesome to fall asleep without panicing about the paper.

Frustration

How many meals can a person burn in a day? How many times does the floor have to be mopped in an afternoon? How far does tomato sauce splatter when it falls off the counter? How much flour can one get on their clothes? How long should it take to write a career paper? Why is it so uncomfortable to cry with a sore throat? How many times can a person change their mind? Why can't a house ever stay clean? Why can't the roads be better so Mom and Dad can get home quicker? How can one person be allergic to so much? Why is it so hard to be nice to your siblings? How many subjects are there to argue about in a day? Why does walking throught the snow and then going back in the house and getting warm make a person so sleepy?

Personality Type

Our Financial Peace teacher suggested that to help us with our career paper we take a personality test and see what careers are recommended for that type. According to it, I am a ISFJ. Almost all of the various descriptions of a ISFJ personality report that they "tend to be attracted to troublemakers." Oh dear.

Silly Alarm Clocks

Nana's alarm clock does NOT work. It wakes me up, in the next room, with its annoying beeping, but she sleeps through it!!!!! I'm not sure that there is really anything, besides shaking her that makes her wake up. I could probably go outside her room and scream and she would never hear it. Since she sleeps so soundly, I have to get up and go in her room to turn her alarm clock off and then once I turn it off, she wakes up and sleepily asks me what I am doing in her room. :P And I can't go back to sleep after that, cause I'll I can think of is that I HAVE to get the career paper done. So I lie awake writing the paper in my head and editing it, and then by the time I am working on the second paragraph I finanlly decide that I might as well just get up and actually write it on paper. As soon as I have gotten up and get out the paper to write it down, I can't remember what I was going to say. : ( Bother.

things

We have more snow! Yay! Now we can finish our snow fort.

and

We have our christmas tree up! It is kind of misshapen, but looks better than many of our past trees. We got it late last night and had to haul it back in the dark from the back of our woods.

and

I finished Nana's christmas gift last night. I'm glad to have that out of the way, though it always seems like Nana's gift is always the first one I finish.

and

IT IS DECEMBER! Only four more weeks till christmas.

and

Only two weeks till my career paper is due.
Yikes, I had better go work on it......
