[jumps up and down]
Yay! I got it!
Hey, I knew I could do it! ;)
The cannon should be angled at 83 degrees from the horizon line.
Let's do another problem!
I love physics! :D

If only life were easy....
... then it wouldn't take forever to get through a single Physics problem.
Three pages of calculations later I discovered that I must have made a misstake somewhere around the middle of the first page. :(
[screams at the top of her lungs]
I've redone it again, but again there is something wrong with it. :O
I have the equation down to y equals tangent theta squared plus acceleration distance squared over two velocity initial cosesign squared theta but I'm not suposed to have cosesign squared on the bottom; it is supposed to be sine squared. Ugh. Somehow out of all that mess I need to calculate the angle that at which a cannon that fires at the velocity of 300m/sec should be in order to hit a ship that is 500 m below and 2500 m away from it.
My *beloved* quadratic equation has shown up once again. Oh joy.

Ah, lovely car rides
I never used to get car sick, but now the long trips to church are almost unbearable. It seems aweful to waste the time spent traveling to Emmaus, but reading or doing school work in the car is impossible.
Winter is coming!
Hurrah for the first cold weather of fall!!! Now I can finally bring out my sweaters and long sleeved shirts! I really dislike hot humid weather. I sleep so much better when I’m cold. Last night I had to use two quilts! Yay! Oh, I really don’t want to have warm weather again for a very long time. Pretty soon the trees will start turning colors! Then I should start taking my friends graduation photos. Some time I should try to get some pictures at the lake. I guess I need to get that light for my bike so dad will let me bike out to it.
Once the leaves have all fallen from the trees the woods will be rather sad looking, until we get the first of the snow storms. The snow will cover the branches and the trees will glisten as the sun shines down on them and it will be so pretty. Maybe we will even get and ice storm this winter! I know that those are dangerous, so hopefully it will happen on a Saturday since we won’t need to travel. Hopefully we won’t get any bad snow storms on Sunday so we won’t have to miss services at Emmaus. : ( On the days which we can make it down there will be snow for snowballs! :D We will be down there more often this winter, since we are homeschooling together now.

Make hay while the sun shines
We are getting the rest of our winter's supply of hay today. The hay is nicely baled and at this moment is sitting out in the field. It would be nice if we didn't have to do it today, but it is suposed to rain in the next 24 hours. Mom and the kids are going with our neighbors to pick up at least 200 or so bales. I don't have to help with the hay, and that is a good thing cause I'm also allergic to it. :P Thankfully, we were able to find a farmer that was willing to sell some decent looking hay, and even better, it was only $3.00 a bale, which is a terribly good price for around here.

I think I am going crazy
I keep misplacing things and forgetting things. Maybe I'm just in too big of a hurry. Last night I thought I had left my bible in the car I so I went to get it and I had actually brought it in with me to church and it was sitting on the coat rack. Now I went and did all of next weeks Biology homework along with this weeks. Read the sylubus? Oh, of course not! I also have somehow missplaced a pattern and I can't find my latin notebook.

Jubilation!
I've go most of my homework done and it is only Thursday!!! Yay!! All I have left to do for Monday is somehow find a copy of "Our Town", oh and I have to find my writting book.
Somehow it isn't in my backpack.... :o
Uh oh.
I think I left it on the Horner's dinning room table when I took Stefan and Baby G. out to play. Ooops. :(
Well, anyways since I have basically all the homework done, I can devote my time to preping for the PSAT, which I haven't done in almost two weeks, and figuring out this weeks Physics chapter. It's the chapter that has my dear little velocity equation that I got wrong every single time last year. I also looks like we'll have some more canning to do.
Today I think I manged to confuse Jacob P. at co-op when I tried to explain why I was taking Advanced Physics and had still not managed to get through my Algebra II. He seems to enjoy being confused.....

Firewood
When you have read as much history as you can stand at one time, the easiest thing is to go out side and help fill the woodshed with firewood. Daddy built the woodshed so that it has an opening in part of the roof so that he can dump the firewood through it. The boys and him fill up his Bobcat skid steer's bucket with firewood and then he drives over and dumps it in the hole in the roof. The only problem with this is all the wood gets stuck in the hole, so some one has to go and move the wood out from the hole and over to the other side of the wood shed. I usually end up with that job, which isn't that bad, except for if you accientally take the wrong peice of wood from the pile you have to learn to quickly jump out of the way or you will be hit by fire wood traveling at a high velocity, which is not really fun. If your hand happens to be in the way of a log, it doesn't really feel that nice. Fire wood is like Karen's knife. It's sharp and it doesn't like my left hand.

Relatives
Mom has a Scottish ancestor too! That means that we are at least 4/64ths, or 6.25% Scottish. Mom has this interesting notebook that Grandma P. typed up, on a typewriter, that has all this interesting stuff about our ancestors and it has some neat genealogies. Grandpa P's Great Grandfather and was wounded at Point Pleasent, a battle I never knew took place. It's funny what stories can be passed down through the families, and some you will never know if they are true or not, like the story that Grandpa P.'s Grandmother was the grand daughter of Chief Joseph. .

Rain
Our basement floor next to the computer was coverd with water when we got home. I guess the laundry room isn't the only part of the basement that leaks. Yay.
Hopefully, it will still be light enough outside after my potato rolls finish baking for me to go out and [gasp]play in the rain.
Since Nana was complaining about being called Nana, she will now be called Sugar. Mom even agreeded to let me do that.
Better post this before the internet gets cut off by the rain again. :(

Why? Oh Why?
Why does something always happen when Mom is gone????? Why did Bunny have to be sick? And Nana have to be difficult? And Matt refuse to listen to what I say??? Why?
I hadn't really realized it until now, but Mom is traveling in a plane today. September 11. Hmm. Not exactly a good connotation.
Last night I woke up every hour cause I kept deaming that I had homework due and I couldn't get it done. Now I'm tired

Financial Homework...
At one of our co-ops, I'm taking a financial class.... yay. Learning things like budgeting and saving and that sort of stuff is all well and good, but the reason for saving money is very important. Saving money for the sake of being a good steward of the gifts that God has given to you is waaaaaaaaaay different than saving so that you can be rich. The curriculum that we are using begins with the mindset of trying to "build wealth", which kind of bugs me cause it doesn't really seem to fit in with the helping your neighbor stuff.... but then again..... I guess by saving alot you will be able to help your neighbor when they need it, but then you might run into the problem of working so hard to have money saved that you don't help your neighbor...... You shouldn't be in debt.... but you shouldn't hoard wealth either..... I don't know.... I guess I'll have it figured all out sometime......
Anyways, we have to do "Case Studies". Which means we are given a senario and we have to write what we would advise the person to do. All right. My senario was easy enough. I wrote out my sentence long answer.
Oh, look.
We have to answer the senario in TWO paragraphs not one sentence.
Bother.
Hmmmm...... How in the world can you write two paragraphs on that?????? Do two sentences work as a paragraph?

The first day of our homeschool co-op is over and it should be very interesting and good. The homework is somewhat more than I had expected, but I'll manage. I hope. :D

My yearly addition to the U.S. mail
Throughout the course of the year I usually end up writting about five letters total. Well, five if you only count those letters that actually get sent. I have close to a dozen letters that never make it out of the house. Of the five that actaully get stamped and taken to the post office, two go to my Godmother. My Grandmother in OH usually gets one as does Aunt Shirley. The last of the five goes to who ever happened to buy my market goat at the fair that year. Today I accomplished writting to all of the usual, except for the market goat buyer. I'll have to do that someother time. I hope I remember to actually get these in the mail, it would be sad to have spent time writting them for no reason. Knowing me, I will end up forgetting about them and I'll find them a year from now burried in a pile of letters somewhere. :P
Sunday Car Rides
On the way home from church today Nana said to me "You are still red from that sunburn you got on vacation. Red is a color that makes people nervous and uncomfortable because it is such a overwhemling and bright color."
Um.......thank you....???
She didn't understand why I was laughing after she said it and proceeded to elborate on what she had just said.
:D Oh Nana! :D I can always count on her to make some sort of strange comment.

Woodland Fancies
Run, with back to the house, deserting the reality of dishes and homework for a brief while, come to the forest. Ahead it lies. Faster you run, and soon are encompassed by the green boughs of the maple. Inside, the trees reach upwards, standing proud and majestic, towering high above the dark burgundy floor below it. Swiftly, you are transported to the world of greens and red.
The woods around you is deep and mysterious. No longer an ordinary person, you are the daughter of a knight whose castle has been taken, and who has no choice but to fly. The ordinary skirt and blouse you are wearing becomes a dark green gown, softly falling to your feet; the clumsy tennis shoes that hold down your feet are now delightful little black boots. Deep into the woods you run. The crack of twigs breaking causes your heart to stop for a moment. Could it be the soldiers returning? You stand stiffly barely daring to breath, till you are relieved to see the white tails of two deer, bounding away into deeper recesses of the woods. Up ahead a pine grove comes into view. Its deep green boughs hang down thoughtfully, spreading a sharp yet alluring aroma into the air. A quiet place, where you can sit and think, hidden from the sight of the world around you. The earth below the pines is spread with golden brown, springy needles, a bed gradually laid by time, the work of many years fit for the resting of even a queen of fairies.
Stepping out from the last group of pines, the forest opens out into a small meadow. The last of the fall flowers are blooming: goldenrod, blue cornflower, and other late weeds. No longer the daughter of a knight, you exchange your gown for a simple blue cotton dress with long sleeves and a full skirt, covered by a crisp white apron. Your head is now covered with a sunbonnet. You are gathering flowers for your sister’s wedding with in the hour. You could almost hear the voices of children singing and the sound of church bells in the distance, and if you look hard enough, you can imagine a small white church building in the distance. But you must not linger here.
Once again you walk under the forests over hanging branches. This time however, you are entering the hidden fairy land. Stepping between two ancient trees, hanging as if they were burdened by some great secret, you are transported to the Hidden Realm. This land can only be entered by the two trees, and those who do not pass this way are unable to see this enchanted land. Your full white gown sparkles in the sunlight as if covered with small jewels. Stepping softly, you descend into the valley of the hidden kingdom. A soft mist gently wraps the pond that lies at the bottom. Soon you are also are enveloped by it. You can imagine the sound of little voices, soft and sweet like that of a morning dove. The lightness of the small slippers on your feet makes it feel as if you were flying. Over to the other side of the valley you travel, swiftly, following little trails made by small nimble feet. Too soon you reach the other side of the valley. With a wistful look you once again step between two trees and it is gone.
Stretched out before you is one last meadow. A long fence winds down your destined trail. Now a Scottish peasant, you can almost feel the rough cloth form your long plain dress. In your arms you hold a bouquet of the late summer flowers; these will brighten up the drab walls of your humble cottage. In the distance you can see your betrothed working on a building that in the coming years will be your home. Out of the bushes fly a flock of morning doves, cool grey and speckled. Looking at the grass makes you want to dance with it, but looking up you see that house is coming into veiw, your walk is completed.
You say farewell to the Scottish gown, and the sweet little boots, and suddenly your feet fell heavy again, weighed down by your large tennis shoes. Behind you lies the world of fancies, of magic and imagination, but for now, you must leave it, turning you back on it for a little while. The dishes must be done and there are real people to feed. Goodbye fairy world! Perhaps tomorrow I may return.
(note: this is not structured thebest, but I had to write it down before forgot and I'm too lazy and tired to go back and check it for grammer and spelling and sentence construction right now, so please excuse the errors)

small town libraries
After our home school co-op, we stopped at the library to pick up My Antonia. The library that we useually go to is in a tiny, somewhat old fashioned town. The library is basically deserted, except for several teenagers sitting infront of the computer. The books are awesome, cause most of them are really old. Usually they haven't been checked out for several years. The copy of My Antonia that I borrowed was donated to the library in 1965 and has only been check out 38 times since then. I'm the first one since 2006. Old books are so awesome!

Another New Experience
Shopping by myself. The first time ever. At night. I forgot to get a shopping cart and stood in the isle for a minute wondering how I was going to carry three cases of bottled, and which would look dumber, trying to carry 72 bottles of water or going back out the doors of the store to get the cart. Why did I even worry about that? But anyways, I decided to get the cart.
Dot. Dot. Dot. Lots and lots of Dots
The dot product. What is it? No one seems to be able to tell me what it is. I've been trying to understand it for the past two hours, but whenever I think I've gotten it figured out, I learn something different about it. I guess I had better wait and ask my physics teacher and see if she can make any sense out of it. I know how to compute it mathematically, but I can't use it unless I know what it means. By meaning I mean like visually, not like A.B= ABcos(theta) :P
I guess the need to be able to visualize things is why I'm terrible at Algebra.

I did it! I did it!
Oh Yeah!
Mom's still alive.
The car is still intact; the airbags didn't even go off.
All Dad's trees are still undamaged, and I haven't caused harm to anyone else's vehicle!
YAY!!
When Mom and I went out to the lake today she had me drive the car down the driveway. It was the first time I've ever driven anything larger than a lawnmower. Once I accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the breaks, but other than that it went fairly well.

Just when I thought today would be a wonderful day....
Mom woke me up out of the first deep sleep I've had in almost two weeks to anounce that I have dental appointment in an hour. :0
So much for getting any school work done. Goodness. I had better try to wake myself up a little more. I am really sleepy.

hmmmm...
My SAT prep book has lots of word of advice for taking tests.
"Think positive thoughts" and then right after that is says, "Try not to think of anything other than the question in front of you".
So what if thinking about the question was not a positive thought? I could just daydream during the test about positive things. :D That wouldn't be too hard; I already do that.
