Today we sang LSB 458 as one of our communion hymns. Whenever I hear it, it brings me back to the sactuary at Ridgecrest, NC. During the Higher Things confrence, Sarah and K N sang in the choir, so while the choir met before the service, I (and usually OFHP) would sit below them ans listen to them practice. It was so beautiful! I can still hear Mr. LaCroix correcting them on how to roll their r's. I also remembering thinking that the organist was really good. How funny to think that it was Mrs. R.
This being out first conference, we didn't know anyone and everything was so new and different. I had never heard the Magnificant before FOR YOU. We roomed with two people from, I think it was, South Carolina, Emilie and Bessie. One of the funniest things was the night we spent with the AC turned up really high, and everyone was too polite to mention it or turn it off.
I really enjoyed Pr. Pauls indepth on the End Times, for that was something that had been intrigueing me for quite sometime, and I had never had it explained clearly from an orthodox view before. That indepth, along with the Breakaway session on the AntiChrist really helped me. It was wonderful to be able to be fed three of more times a day, as we were able to go to Matins, vespers, evining prayer, and compline.

It was wonderful! I was able to help in the kitchen during the open house and that kept me busy so that I didn't have to tag aroung Sarah and Mom and be bored.
We got to play an awesome game of vollyball (sorry Anan) :( It was so awesome to have Pastor play with us :)
AND someone who has been ignoring me for the past three months or so actually spoke three words to me!!!!!
Thanks ya'll for coming :)

The grass is blooming (and yes the grass does bloom) and so there is lots and lots of pollen floating around in the air, which leads to a very itchy me. Hopefully Mom will pick my allergy medicine at the store when she goes to pick up the two 50 lb bags of ice for the open house at the store. Thank God for benedryl, but now it is making me soooooo sleepy............

Miss Nana
One of things about Miss Nan is that she often missreads words, which can cause some rather funny sentances. On the way home from Evening Prayer, she was commenting on how, “We should have named Bunny Job, because he was born on the 'commencement' of Job.” (she meant commemoration)
She was also signing loudly on the way home, and she looked at Mom with a worried look and asked, “am I making you displeasing?”
When she was younger, she would run around the house saying she was a “roasted tiger” instead of a ferocious tiger.
And she does thing “just to aggregate them” (aggravate)

Plaster again
The ride to the little house proved uneventful. This was the first time that Sarah and I had gone there by ourselves. Once there, we began our boring job of plastering the walls and ceiling. During the first two hours we listened to music while we worked, and during that time, our conversation was somewhat minimal; it was nice not to have to manufacture our own noise. After we had listened to both of the Michael Card CDs that we had brought, we decided to listen to a 4 CD set of “hymns” that Grandma and Grandpa had given our parents for Christmas. We were sadly disappointed with these, for with most of the “hymns” it was just the music, and the ones they did sing were either to the wrong tune or the words had been changed. Because of this we became overwhelmedly bored. When bored, the strangest conversations arise.
Like…….
Me: You know, Sedrick is a lot nicer looking than Peter [from the Chronicles of Narnia]
S: Ya.
Me: But I think Edmund isn’t bad looking, in fact I think he is nicer looking than Caspian.
S: But Caspian is not bad at all, in fact if he were Lutheran……
Me: But if Miraz were Lutheran?
S: Well, he is too old
That was a really weird discussion. We don’t normally have that kind of conversation, but, boredom can cause that sort of thing.
We started the plastering at around 1:00 and we were done with what could be done today at 4:30. We loaded up the stuff that we had to take home and got into the van. We had parked our car on a slope, and so we had intelligently put the parking brake on, but when Sarah went to release the parking brake, it appeared to be stuck in place. We tried pushing it a pulling it, but all in vain; we were stuck. Considering we had nothing to loose, I pulled out our handy owner’s manual. Sarah gave me a look and exclaimed, “That’s not going to help.” Paging through it we came to page 206 where on was printed the head title of “Parking Break”. It gave instructions on how to release the brake, and so, Sarah carefully gave it a try. The parking break released!!! The owner’s manual knew what it was talking about!!!

Ah, Sunday
(note: things are in parenthesis not for a sarcastic reason, but because the things are called something that they are not and thus is does not seem right to refer to them by that name) This post is not at all meant to be sarcastic, it is simply some observations that I noticed when visiting Grandma and Grandpa's former church for its 75 anniversary.
'twas good and not so grand
Good: We were able to meet lots of people that knew Dad, like one lady that had baby sat him and out Aunt when they were little.
We also got to meet Great Uncle Jean, Grandma's brother, who I had only met once before and were able to see the House in Which Grandma grew up in with her brothers and sisters. the house is a very cute snug little house, one that would be great fun to play hide and seek in, for there are many cubby holes and hidden closets, but it is almost unbelievable that Grandma's whole family (of nine) could actually fit.
Bad: We didn't get to go to a service
Yes, there was a "service", but it wasn't service. The whole atmosphere of the "sanctuary" was really sad. When you walked in the fist thing that came to your attention was the front of the "sanctuary". No candles, no alter, no crucifix, no pulpit, no lectern, not even a cross to be seen. (We did find out later that there was cross, but it was covered by the screen. Extremely sad, and ironic) Now, despite the many missing articles, the front was hardly empty. The noise in the "sanctuary" was loud, as many friends chatted together.
The "service" would have been good if it had been referred to as just a celebration, for indeed, it was NOT a service. No Word, No Sacraments, Not even a sermon. In the whole course of this 2 and 1/2 hour "service", we heard a whole three verses from the Bible. How in the world can those Christian s survive on such a meager diet? No wonder they aren't used to looking at scripture in its context!
Anyways, I think (if I ever get around to it) I will post some more about it later. Right now I have to go have a water fight with Miss Nan, Matt, and Bunny. Yay! :)
Wow, I think this is the longest post yet!!!
