Tomorrow school begins. Summer really went by quickly, though it was a very good summer. I have only three days to get all my assignments done for the first day of our homeschool co-op, not that the classes I'll be taking with this co-op will be that challenging this year, well, except for Adv. Physics.
I'm kind of worried about taking the PSAT in October, cause when I take tests I have the problem of not taking them seriously enough and rushing through them without paying any attention. Um, and yeah, I don't have Sarah's problem of writing writing essays. Let's just say that with the ACT, I had my essay done with fifteen minutes to spare, and comments on the grading paper said "need longer essay". I had the format and everything down, but one sentence paragraphs don't really work. :P
I have to get the notebooks for my classes done tonight, but I'll be blessed if I don't fall asleep while doing them.
Wow. It's hard to believe that a year ago we had never heard of Emmaus.

Bother!
So today is a beautiful day to take my neighbor's graduation photos. The sky is the perfect color and it isn't too brigh outside. Unfortunately there is one slight problem. Mom has the camera with her. So much for that.
2:45 Update
It is kind of taking longer than I expected, but I have 12 pints of Peach Jam, 9 pints of tomato sauce, 1 burnt finger, and 1 less jar of jalepeno peppers (cause when I was putting the tomato jiuce away I accidentally knocked one off the shelf :P).
This is my first (semi) sucessful attempt at jam! The strawberry jam didn't set up, and the plum preserves had too much sugar. Can't do anymore canning today till mom gets home cause I ran out of pectin and I've done up all the tomatoes that we had in the garden. I guess that's a good thing as now I will have time to get the kitchen cleaned up and supper done.

The whole day before me!
Oh Yay! The whole house all to myself the whole day!!!
(and then at the end of this already almost perfect day SARAH will be coming home!!!!!)
Lets see.
I need to:
Finish canning the peaches
Can Tomato Sauce
Clean up the Kitchen and mop
Put away the three baskets of laundry that have been sitting for a week
That shouldn't take me too long....I hope :P
and if I have extra time I can make supper!
This is so exciting! I haven't had a day like this for almost three months.
Yes, I know it is silly to be excited about cleaning, but oh well.
Oh, and I just remembered, the big mixing spoon's name is Priscilla.

The Peach Routine
So I peel and slice the peaches and then put them in the nicely washed jars, and then the jars go in the hot water bath canner. It takes 1/2 an hour for that to heat up so while it does that I peel and cut up the peaches for the next set. By the time I'm done with that the water is heated up so I have to wait for another 25 minutes before I can take the hot jars out of the canner and screw the lids down tight. This gives me time to go down stairs and write down what ever boring thing came to my mind while peeling the peaches. So that's why I posted seven posts yesterday. It also explains why the posts are somewhat weird, cause I was really, really bored. After the first set of peaches is done I have to dump out half the boiling hot water and add codl water to it so the jars dont crack when I put the next batch in to can.
49 quarts later
Louisa was angry with me for waking her up at 7:00 to peel more peaches so she bit my pinky finger. That cut really hurts when it gets peach juice in it. Gustavus however, refused to cut me, even when inept me accidentally made him slip off the peach and jabbed him into my palm. What a gentleman!

Bedtime was supposed to be at 9:00 tonight....
I want to sleep! I want to sleep. Please brain of Snap, go to sleep. Tommorrow you can think, tonight is not time to do so. Please, I was hoping to wake up early tommorrow, and now you are making that wish impossible.
Four Bushels of Peaches
Thanks to my dear helpers, however, the pile of peaches is growing less. My trusty knive, Gustavus, has been of much assistance, and thankfully has born none of the enmity for me shown by Percival, the knife of Karen. Gustavas is a rather handsome fellow, with his smooth sharp blade. Although a good worker, Lousia, is rather haughty about the fact that she is a GREEN peeler. I do believe that it hurts her brother Clarence’s feeling when she looks down on him because he is red.
